South Fork of the Snake Fishing Report July 20th, 2017

Marshall Geller South Fork Rainbow Trout

Thanks for checking in on this weeks fishing report.  Did you hear our guides collective sigh of relief as the flows dropped this week?  Flows out of Palisades Dam dropped 1,000 cfs this week to a very nice 12,000 cfs.  Ahhhh.

With the flows dropping the river is clearing daily and our guides are having success with dry/dropper rigs and are all excited to not be nymphing all day!  That being said the top producing fly this week is still a small golden stone nymph such as a size 8 Pat’s Rubber Legs or Cheater Belly Stone.  As the water continues to clear combined with stable flows we will see more and more fish “looking up”.  As is typical for summer on the South Fork good hatches of PMD’s, Caddis, and some Golden Stones will continue. Don’t be afraid to start trying your favorite terrestrial patterns as well.

If you are looking for something fun to do next Friday night, we are hosting our first Paella night at the lodge. We’ll kick it off with cocktails at 6:30, then serving a traditional Spanish Paella filled with Chicken, Shrimp, Spanish Chorizo, Mussels and more at 7:00. $30.00 per person, all you can eat, with a full bar available. Please make a reservation by calling 208.483.2222.

As always please give us a call or come by our shop if you have questions, need some gear, a guide, or a shuttle.
