South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report 4/18/19

South Fork Flows are up, Main Snake continues to impress.

**Update Friday 4.19.19** Flows ramped up to 18,000 cfs yesterday afternoon. For more information on the Idaho Fish & Game’s electrofishing plans and schedule they are posted here.

Wow, is winter finally over? Blue sky and sunshine has been a rare thing indeed. Today and Friday are looking mighty fine with showers returning just in time for the weekend. Get out and enjoy it if you can.

The South Fork is flowing at a gin clear 16,000 cfs more than double what it was flowing at last week. While 16,000 cfs isn’t crazy high, do be careful out on the water and respect the frigid water temps. With warm temperatures the next few days and more moisture on tap for the weekend, we could see flows go up again soon.

Eggs are the name of the game on the upper river with stonefly nymphs and streamers becoming more useful the further downstream you go. Starting your day at the dam with eggs and mysis shrimp has been a the guide go to strategy.

Fish and Game has been out and about shocking rainbows for their annual survey and removing rainbows to local ponds. More details on that program can be found here.
