South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report 5/2/2019

head guide jaason pruett

Hello friends of TLAPC and the South Fork. Thank you for checking in on our weekly fishing report.

We officially opened the lodge and dining room for the 2019 season yesterday. Dining reservations can be made by calling 208.483.2222. Our May lodging special continues $500 per night for 1 or 2 people. Includes dinner, all beverages, and breakfast the next morning. Add guided fishing for $615 and you’ve got a great weekend ahead!

One last update before we get to the fishing. We just had two prime dates open up.

  • July 14th – 18th 4 cabins (8 people)
  • August 5th – 10th 4 cabins (8 People)

These dates rarely open up, so if you’re interested in booking during some of the best fishing of the year give us a call.

Ok, now on to the fishing. I think our manager, Justin Hays, said it best today on Facebook:

“The water is clear as glass. Flows recently reduced to help with flood control. This weekend is forecast to have temps in the 70’s. The yard can wait another week. Let’s go fishing!”

Do I really need to say anything more? With flows down this week to a much more manageable 14,000 cfs and nice weather in the forecast this will definitely be the best weekend to go fishing so far in 2019.

The name of the game will still be nymphs and streamers with nymphing winning out for overall productivity. Standard flies for this time of year will be the top producers; stonefly nymphs, egg patterns, and san juan worms. We’ve got all the flies you could ever need in our shop with a bunch of new patterns for 2019, come by and check them out.

Have fun out there!
