South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report 5/30/2019

south fork of the snake fishing report

Are fishing reports shorter when the fishing is good? YES!

Simply put we are experiencing some of the best fishing we’ve ever seen in the Spring. If you were out dodging rain storms over the Memorial Day weekend you no doubt saw the prolific BWO hatches with fish targeting nymphs and emergers in foam lines and riffles. The streamer bite was also good for those willing to put in the work.

The lower river with it’s warmer water and more active bugs continues to impress with some or guides even tempting a few fish with big foamy dry flies. (A few skwala stones were spotted)

We’ve been hosting an amazing group of kids from Texas this week through our friends at On River Time. This wonderful non-profit empowers children of abuse and neglect through fly fishing. They’ve been keeping track of their experience this week:

  • 195 Fish Caught
  • 100 Miles floated
  • 123 flies
  • 5 hats caught
  • 4 Moose
  • 3 Eagles
  • 2,040 inches of fish landed
  • 1,000+ smiles

With flows forecasted to remain stable for the coming week or more and the weather looking really nice are you ready for some “On River Time”?

Please give us a call or swing by the fly shop if you need anything or have questions. 208.483.2222
