South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report July 7th, 2016

This week’s fishing report is brought to you by yours truly, Chris “Jigidy” Jensen.  Many of you probably know that I guided full time for TLAPC for many years and still get the chance behind the oars several times a summer.  Since I spent more time on the river this week than behind the computer I didn’t get a chance to interview another guide for the fishing report so I’m taking a freebie this week and interviewing myself.

The fishing in short is amazing.  The 4th of July weekend is always a busy one on the South Fork and for good reason the fishing can be spectacular, it was and continues to be.  I used to joke that this time of year any angler with a stimulator can catch a fish and right now that’s true.  The salmon flies continue their march up the river and are being followed up stream by their brethren the golden stones.  The best fishing though, has been fishing PMD’s and Sallies in the riffles in the afternoon.

I had the great pleasure of fishing with my family over the holiday and we made sure we were on the river every afternoon from 1:00-5:00 to catch the PMD hatch.

Now IS the time to be on the river and we expect the best fishing of the season to continue for the next several weeks.  Get out there if you can and if you need a guide give us a ring.  208-483-2222.  See you out there.
